The purpose of teaching the discipline "English Literature" is to provide students with systematic knowledge of the literature of Great Britain, to develop literary thinking skills, to provide an understanding of the main literary processes of different historical eras, as well as the peculiarities of the creative heritage of the most prominent writers of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland; to teach students to analyze a fiction, its main idea, plot and composition, to determine the stylistic means of creating an artistic image.
